As my dear old Dad use to say “The week of Miss Oklahoma is an endurance race and the last girl standing wins.”
His observation was pretty close to the truth. It is a long week and you have to on top of your game – the entire time. It is a stressful time, and it’s important you find ways to rest and cope with stress.
We have to learn ways to de-stress. Listen to music, take hot showers and again, rest. One key way to lessen stress is to be organized. Have everything you need, double-check before you arrive. The last thing you want to worry about is something you forgot to bring, or can’t find.
And you need to focus – focus on you and only you. You must have blinders on, not letting anything distract you from your goal. It’s a mental game and it’s my job to help you focus on your gifts and strengths during this time. There will be many beautiful and talented women competing, but remember there is only one “you.”
Don’t focus on others, but focus on yourself. Remember this is an endurance race, not a sprint.
